Alvaro Henrique in Concert

February 28, 2026 Heart of the City Music Factory
For the first time – internationally renowned classical Brazilian guitarist Alvaro Henrique – is performing live at the Music Factory!

Alvaro Henrique challenges the boundaries of what it means to be classical, musician, guitarist and Brazilian. His ongoing projects are recordings of Heitor Villa-Lobos’ music with OSTNCS, and music from composers born in Brasilia. Alvaro was awarded in competitions in Brazil, Canada, and the USA.

His recent albums are Guerra-Peixe’s complete solo guitar works, Alvaro Henrique plays Dilermando Reis, and ongoing projects are a 3 CD of Heitor Villa-Lobos’ music with the Orquestra Sinfonica do Teatro Nacional Claudio Santoro, and music from composers born in Brasilia, stripped from Rio de Janeiro/ Southeastern paracolonial impositions.

Known for “both the humor and drama of his performances” (The Gleaner), along with his engaging speaking with audiences from the stage, Henrique has toured 20+ countries and has released 7 albums and a DVD, and has participated in CDs with music by Jorge Antunes and Jean Goldenbaum.

Alvaro’s recitals typically offer a different insight and a varied experience. It has included early music instruments, such as vihuela, the Baroque theorboed guitar, the romantic guitar, and of course the modern classical guitar. His flexible repertoire allows for programs that can mix 5 centuries of music and cultures. Alvaro Henrique has also premiered works by a number of composers such as Mario Ferraro and Ernest Mahle.

Tickets are $20.00 in advance and $25.00 at the door. Seating is general admission and doors open at 6:30 PM. Concessions, merchandise and Mr. Chipper’s fresh-baked cookies will be for sale during the concert.

The Music Factory is located on the 2nd floor of a non-handicap accessible building and there are some stairs to climb.
