When A Man Loves A Diva – Dane Stauffer, Julius Collins and Ben Bakken
What happens when Men Sing Songs they never get to sing?
“When a Man Loves a Diva,”
First conceived and staged at ‘The Lab,” “When a Man Loves a Diva,” broke all the attendance records with enthusiastic audiences returning to see the musical magic. Sanford Moore and the entire original cast — Ben Bakken, Julius Collins and Dane Stauffer – are back to raise the roof with their celebrated musical revue. These men sing songs about love that made Pop Divas of the women who recorded them.
From the Chiffons to the Supremes, from Aretha to Adele, its great fun to listen to men who aren’t too proud to belt. Their often shameless renditions (complete with rampant improper pronoun usage) remind us that there ain’t no mountain high enough, ain’t no river wide enough, to keep the audience from having a dangerously good time.
You’ll have 3 performances to choose from:
Saturday, November 13th, 5 PM
Saturday, November 13th, 8 PM
Sunday, November 14th, 6 PM
WHEN A MAN LOVES A DIVA:
The Critics rave!
“Bandleader and arranger Sanford Moore and singer Dane Stauffer have crafted a musical revue that has humor, honesty and heart. Julius Collins fills the room with his soulful falsetto, blue-eyed soul phenom Ben Bakken’s energy and moves recall the verve of Justin Timberlake… Camp comes courtesy of Stauffer, who delivers on “Like a Virgin” (re-arranged by Sanford Moore to sound like a ballad) and …”Stand by Your Man.” – Star Tribune
“A colorful Kaleidoscope… as entertaining as it is eclectic “Julius Collins threatens to bring down the house. Ben Bakken ….such passion that it seems he’s about to burst into tears mid-song..” “with his sweet and smooth voice, Dane Stauffer’s tongue is planted so firm in his cheek you wonder how he can enunciate Gypsy’s Tramps and Thieves… The Energy never flags during the 90-minute show.” – St. Paul Pioneer Press
“You’ll laugh, you’ll cheer, you’ll scratch your head at improper pronoun usage. …..sung with style and substance by three skilled performers. Dane Stauffer is at his playful best, Ben Bakken busts some ‘mazin moves and Julius C. Collins III, best known as the lead singer for Greazy Meal and Doctor Mambo’s Combo, booms with the best of them.” – CityPages, The A-List
