Backyard a bit tight? Looking to give your dog a new place to play fetch? Dog owners visiting or residing in the Twin Cities Gateway region are spoiled when it comes to dog park options.
Bunker Hills Dog Park in Coon Rapids is located in Bunker Hills Regional Park, making it a great spot if you’re looking for hiking trails, in addition to an off-leash area. Locke County Park in Fridley also boasts a dog park and several paved and wooded trails nearby. If you have a small dog, Shoreview’s Rice Creek Corridor Off Leash Dog Park features a designated area for dogs under 30 pounds and is located within the trailhead of the Rice Creek North Regional Trail.
Restaurants
After playtime, you (and your pup!) might be hungry from some grub. Fortunately, dog owners will find many dog-friendly eateries in the region.
If craving a glass of craft beer, Anoka’s 10K Brewing and Coon Rapids’ Alloy Brewing Co. both feature patios that are dog friendly. Brunch and dinner can be enjoyed at Churchill St.—a local restaurant in Shoreview that not only serves sustainable, locally-minded dishes, but also allows dogs to enjoy the outdoor seating areas alongside their owners. Muddy Cow in Coon Rapids is also known for sourcing local ingredients and for its pet-friendly patio.
If a caffeine fix is what you need, Dunn Brothers Coffee—with a location in Coon Rapids—allows dogs in the outdoor seating area. Your dog might even get a treat, too!
