North Metro “Community” Home and Garden Show
Minneapolis, MN — The Cities of Blaine, Fridley, and Mounds View, Minnesota, are co-sponsors of the Seventeenth Annual North Metro Home & Garden Show. This community event will be held Saturday, February 28, from 9 am to 3 pm, at the National Sports Center’s Sport Expo Center, located at 1740 – 105th Avenue Northeast, Blaine. There is no admission for this Show, which showcases local specialists providing everything you need—including inspiration and financing—for remodeling or improving your home and yard. Attendees are encouraged to bring in their photographs, plans and ideas, and discuss them with our experts!
Exhibitor Co-Sponsors of this year’s Show are Trio Landscaping, Quarve Contracting and Western Remodelers. Billboard advertising is provided by Clear Channel Outdoor, and promotional consideration is provided by MetroNorth Chamber of Commerce.
Features of the North Metro Home & Garden Show include informative seminars, door prize drawings that take place periodically during the show, and a Sponsors Treasure Hunt with a chance to win a $50 VISA gift card. We’re also offering a Kids Activity Center with fun crafts, and a face painter for the duration of the Show.
The sponsoring cities are excited about what is being offered in this year’s Show, including a number of first-time exhibitors. Seminars will be conducted from an open stage with bleacher seating, so attendees can stop by for a few minutes or stay for the entire presentation. All of our presenters are also exhibitors so attendees can continue their conversations at the exhibitor booths.
“This year we are offering several very interesting, practical and timely seminars,” said event coordinator Marsha Wagner, “and all of them will include a question-and-answer segment. Dawn Doering, Information & Education Coordinator, Coon Creek Watershed District, will kick things off with ‘Trending for 2015: Reducing your Blueprint’ followed by Master Gardener Kim Sullivan, who is back by popular demand to cover ‘Weird Weather Lawn Care.’ The next session is ‘2015 Color Trends’ by Abi Zechmeister, Designer and Product Specialist with The Sherwin Williams Company. In the afternoon Home Depot Store #2803 (Coon Rapids) will conduct two hands-on seminars: ‘A Primer on Painting’ and ‘How to Install Tile.’ For the full seminar schedule, including times and descriptions, please see the Show’s website: www.northmetrohomeandgarden.com/activities/seminars/
The North Metro Home and Garden Show, now in its 17th year, is presented as a public service for the residents of Blaine, Fridley and Mounds View, but is open for anyone to attend. This annual community event is held in Blaine, and we draw on volunteers from all of the sponsoring cities. Our attendee bags are stuffed by Girl Scout Troop 10242-Fridley, whose members will also act as greeters, handing out the programs and attendee bags. They will also sell Girl Scout cookies during the Show. Boy Scout Troop 167-Fridley will assist in preparing for and facilitating our Kids Activity Center, helping kids make pine-cone bird feeders as well as other fun craft projects. Members of the Soil & Sunshine Garden Club—which meets monthly at the Blaine Senior center and was a 2012 recipient of the Minnesota State Horticultural Society’s Garden Club of the Year award—cheerfully assist at our Door Prize Booth. Members of the Spring Lake Park-Blaine-Mounds View Fire Department assist with booth set-up and monitoring the morning of the Show, and the Blaine Police Explorers provide security and parking lot monitoring during show set-up and take-down.
